Winter in Radium Hot Springs is the valley’s best-kept secret: snowy peaks, steaming mineral pools, and none of the summer crowds. Here’s how to make the most of it — all within minutes of Radium Chalet.
1. Soak in the hot springs while it snows
Canada’s famous Radium Hot Springs pools are open through winter. There’s nothing like floating at 39°C while snowflakes land around you — it’s a five-minute drive from our door. Check the official pools site for current hours.
2. Kootenay National Park in its quiet season
The park gates are moments away. Winter brings frozen canyon views, peaceful trails and excellent wildlife spotting. Check Parks Canada for seasonal conditions before heading out.
3. Watch for bighorn sheep
Radium’s famous herds roam the valley all winter — keep your camera ready on the drive in.
4. Warm up with hot pot
Back at the Chalet, Peak Horn Hot Pot serves all-you-can-eat hot pot ($36.99 adult / $22.99 kids), 5–9 PM daily, closed Tuesdays.
